Doctrinal Basis

We hold to the three fundamental declarations of the Anglican Church of Australia, The Apostle's and Nicene Creeds, and the 39 Articles of Religion.

In summary we believe...

  • all the canonical scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as being the ultimate rule and standard of faith given by inspiration of God and containing all things necessary for salvation.
  • in one true and living God in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • that the Father Almighty created the universe.
  • that the historical Jesus Christ was the Son of God conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
  • in the universal sinfulness of humanity. All human beings are in a state of rebellion from God and are facing mortal and eternal danger from his wrath.
  • in salvation through Christ alone. God, in a profound act of love toward us, provides one means of grace and forgiveness through the atoning death of Jesus Christ, his son, on the cross.
  • in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
  • in personal conversion. Salvation requires a miracle of new birth by the Holy Spirit, expressed outwardly as a personal response to God's mercy through repentance and faith. The work of the Holy Spirit will be ongoing and visible in a Christian's life.
  • in the second coming. A day is set for Jesus to return when he will judge the entire world. Until that time all Christians are called to bear witness to Christ and to proclaim the gospel so no one need face this judgment unprepared or without warning.
  • in the person of the Holy Spirit. He indwells believers in Jesus Christ from conversion and is active and at work in them and in the world. The Holy Spirit empowers believers for mission, reveals the truth about Jesus as recorded in the apostolic writings, unites believers to Christ as members of His body, gives gifts for the building up of the Church, convicts people of their sins and continually transforms believers to be more like Christ.
